FAQ
Questions, answered straight.
Licensing & compliance
Are you a licensed electrician?
Yes. Copperjack Electrical is a licensed WA electrical contractor (licence EC 00000), fully insured. Every job is left certified and compliant to the AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Every job comes with a 12-month workmanship guarantee, on top of the manufacturer warranties on any parts we supply. If something we have installed is not right, we come back and make it right. And the work is left tested and certified to AS/NZS 3000.
Do I get a compliance certificate?
Yes. Where the work requires it, every job is finished with an electrical compliance certificate, tested to AS/NZS 3000 and lodged where the work needs one. It is your proof the work is safe and certified.
Do I legally need a safety switch?
Safety switches (RCDs) are required on power and lighting circuits in modern WA homes, and are strongly recommended everywhere. If your switchboard does not have them, we can add RCD protection and test it to AS/NZS 3000.
Cost & quotes
How do quotes work?
We give a clear quote before starting so there are no surprises. Send a few details through the form or give us a call and we will talk through the job and the price.
Why do your reviews say you turn up on time?
Because we do. A 4.9-star rating across 87 jobs comes from showing up when we say we will, doing it once, and leaving the place tidy. That's the whole job.
How much does an electrician cost in Perth?
As a guide, licensed electricians around Perth typically charge $90–$140 an hour, with most small jobs falling in a predictable range. We give you a clear, fixed price before we start rather than an open-ended hourly rate. See our pricing guide for typical figures.
Is there a call-out fee?
We talk through the job and the price upfront before any work begins, so you are never surprised by the bill. After-hours and genuine emergency call-outs are charged at a higher rate. We tell you that before we head out, not after.
Emergency & safety
Do you do emergency call-outs?
Yes, seven days a week. Power outages, tripping circuits, burning smells, exposed or sparking wiring. If it is unsafe, switch off the main at the meter box, keep clear, and call us.
Upgrades, EV & switchboards
My switchboard still has ceramic fuses. Should I upgrade?
Older fuse boards often lack safety switches (RCDs) and struggle with modern loads. We upgrade to a compliant, RCD-protected switchboard and explain the cost upfront before any work begins.
Can you install an EV charger at home?
Yes. We assess your switchboard and load capacity, then install a dedicated, compliant circuit for your home EV charger.
Will my switchboard handle an EV charger?
Sometimes yes, sometimes it needs an upgrade first. We do a load assessment on your switchboard before quoting an EV charger, so the dedicated circuit we install is safe and compliant rather than overloading an old board.
Areas
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Osborne Park and cover Perth's northern suburbs, from the coast to Joondalup and back in towards Yokine.
General
Do you work on the network side, or just inside the home?
We handle everything behind the meter: switchboards, circuits, lighting and safety gear. If a job needs network-side work (the service line or the meter itself), we coordinate that with the network distributor so you are not left chasing two trades.
What's the difference between a safety switch and a circuit breaker?
A circuit breaker protects your wiring from overload and short circuits. A safety switch (RCD) protects people: it cuts power in milliseconds when it detects current leaking to earth, which is what prevents a fatal shock. Good switchboards have both; an RCBO combines the two in one device.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Warning signs include cloth or rubber-insulated (VIR) cabling, frequent tripping, warm or discoloured power points, flickering lights and a fuse board that has never been upgraded. We can inspect and tell you honestly whether you need a full rewire, a partial one, or just a switchboard upgrade.
